Submission Tips:

  1. Remember, no attachments, with the exception of jpeg illustrations from illustrators.

  2. Please do not call to query us. It is not possible to gauge your writing ability by talking to you on the phone. Once we recieve your query, if we are interested you will hear from us.

  3. Be professional and courteous in your approach to any agent. Agents do form an impression based on your e-query, and you want it to be a good impression. Do not write your query in a rush. Take the time to write it well. Make sure your query and manuscripts are polished and error free.

  4. Let us know in your query letter if we are reading your work exclusively by including the word “EXCLUSIVE” in the subject line of your email.

  5. Be sure to include all of your contact details (email address and phone number), so that we are able to reach you if we are interested in your project or if we have a question.

  6. Make sure your query is not just eye-catching, but really draws us in. Passion is our theme! Make us passionate enough about your work to to want to jump up, drop our pile of very important proposals, and single out yours as "The One" !

Submission Directions

  • Visit all of the WASM  website page that relate to you, if not all, before you address your e-query. We want to make sure you feel as passionate as we do!

  • Send a short email query letter to info@woodsandassociates.net, with QUERY in the subject field. (By putting "Query" in the subject line, you will receive an automated email, confirming that your submission was received.)

  • Your query letter should include publisher submission history and previous publishing credits, if applicable.

  • After your query letter or proposal, paste in a short sample of your writing. Your writing sample needs to be pasted into the email (we do not open attachments except in the case of illustrations). See below for what type of sample material to include, based on the type of project you are submitting.

  • If we are interested in reading more of your work, one of our team members will contact you and give you specific instructions about how to send the rest of your material.

You are free to submit to managers at other organizations at the same time, but it is a professional courtesy to let us know, up front, that yours is a multiple submission. If you receive an offer of representation from another agent, please let us know immediately so we can respond accordingly. Please be sure to enclose a contact phone number as well as your email address.
